LASIK: The Preferred Treatment
The latest, and most preferred, laser vision correction procedure for
most patients is called LASIK (pronounced laysic).
The LASIK procedure restores visual acuity within a few days (rather
than weeks as with older procedures such as RK and PRK). And LASIK patients
report a high comfort level after the procedure in most cases,
patients return to their daily routines the very next day.
In earlier vision correction procedures, such as RK and PRK,
the physician made corrections directly to the surface of the eye, which
caused some discomfort and a longer healing time. LASIK has changed
that...
Animation of LASIK Procedure
With LASIK, a flap is made and gently laid back before the laser is
used. Then, once the cool beam has been applied, the flap is replaced.
So the tissue is left intact and the eye is protected.
Because very little of the eye's tissue is disturbed, patients report
a high comfort level after the procedure, and visual acuity is rapidly
improved.
Limberg Eye Surgery utilizes the most advanced laser vision correction
technology: VISX Star S3, ActiveTrak is the only system that allows
the doctor to track your eye movement in all three dimensions during
the treatment, for greater control. VISX
laser systems have been used to perform more than two million laser
vision correction procedures in the U.S. alone. And, now, the WavePrint
System is revolutionizing laser vision correction. Correcting your
vision is safer and more accurate than ever before!
